Richard "Dik" Abbott

Elder
Dik retired in March of 2020 at the age of 73 after 35 years in Christian ministry, including pastoring churches in both Walsh and Cedaredge, Colorado.  He is the 5th of 7 preacher’s kids and is eternally thankful for being nurtured by godly parents. He came to Christ at age 5 at during an evangelistic service at his church .  He enjoyed church camp and dedicated his life to Christian service in his mid-teens at Camp IdRaHaJe. He earned his first BA in Pastoral Studies, at Calvary Bible College, Kansas City, MO. After serving his enlistment in the Marines, he graduated with second BA in Secondary English Education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.  While in Greeley, he met and married the love of his life, Christy Lyn. They were blessed with 3 children: Aaron, Becca, and Jordan and 7 grandchildren.  Even before retiring, Dik sensed he was being led to elder ministry here at Heritage.
