HERITAGE WOMEN’S MINISTRY

“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God” – Colossians 3:16

The purpose of our women’s ministry is to actively disciple women by teaching biblical principles, and providing encouragement to seek, understand, and obey the will of God as it is revealed in Scripture. It is our desire to see all of the women of Heritage Church grow in spiritual maturity, so that we may be equipped to serve our Lord in our families, in our church, and in the world around us.

Bible Study Schedule:

Ladies Bible studies are offered throughout the year at the following times:

Tuesday Mornings: 9:30 – 11:00

Tuesday Evenings:  7:00 – 8:30

Watch the bulletin for details about current and upcoming studies.

Past Studies:

Past studies have included the  ”Legacy of Biblical Womanhood.”  Some comments from those who attended this study are:

“In discussing what The Legacy of Biblical Womanhood has meant to me and what I’ve learned is yet to be discovered. I have been aware of the “What” to do’s and even the “How” to do’s but the “Why”  and the “Context” of womanhood is a bright new window of delight.”Biblical discipleship combines teaching the content of the covenant in the context of covenantal relationships that validate the gospel of grace.” (from the handout for lesson #1) The redeemed helper, daughter of the kingdom,  a lifestyle of intentional, covenantal relationships that are biblically based are transforming. May God make these truths a reality in our lives.”  Sandy

“As an older woman searching for purpose in the winter stage of life, I have found new direction in the last two women’s Bible studies.  The spiritual and emotional warmth of fellowship with younger women in the church was a sharp contract to the frigid temperatures outside the building.  I appreciated the depth of insight provided and the biblical teach from the books Stepping Heavenward and The Legacy of Biblical Womanhood.

“Isaiah 55:9 tells me that as the heavens are higher than the earth, God’s ways are higher than my ways, His thoughts higher than my thoughts.  The studies have helped realign my life path to reflect God’s glory.  I appreciate the the selection of the books used for these two studies.”  Janet

10/13/09 – Our first study for this fall was well attended and the women were eager to get into the meat of the study. We had a short overview of what we will be covering and two of the women gave a “box talk”. What is a “box talk”? It’s a “show and tell” for adults. Objects are placed into a container (box, bag, basket) that are representative of your life. You show the objects one at a time and tell why you included them. It’s short and concise, but a great way to get a glimpse into who you are. Our purpose in including this in our meetings is to better nurture relationships among the women. Everyone so enjoyed this! Next week we will begin to dig in and homework will be assigned. Such a great legacy has been given to Christian women and we look forward to this opportunity to study the precious Word of God.

10/20/09 – Ellen provided an overview of covenants in God’s Word.  The handout for lesson 1 was discussed in the small groups.  Homework for next week is to read chapter 1 in the book and answer the questions at the end of the chapter.  Additional copies of the handout are available on the resource table in the fellowship room.

10/27/09 – Chapter 1 was discussed along with the discussion questions at the end of the chapter.  All of us were encouraged that as we look back at the women who have encouraged us in our Christian walk, that we also have a legacy to leave to future generations of women.  Please read Chapter 2 for next week.

November 17 – Begin break for Thanksgiving & Christmas

1/05/10 - Review of Chapters 1 – 3 to remind everyone of what had been covered so far.  Read Chapter 4 for next week and answer the questions at the end of the chapter.

1/12/10 – Began discussion on Chapter 4.  Homework for the coming week is to read the book of Ruth.

1/19/10 – Read Chapter 5 and answer the questions at the end of the chapter.  The handouts for Lesson 7 were distributed – extra copies are available on the resource table.

1/26/10 -  Read Chapter 6 in the book and Ruth 1 – 3.  Each chapter of our book has a theme. Last week was “gratitude”.  This up-coming week it is “unity.”

2/2/10 - Read Chapter 7 in the book.

2/9/10 – Read Chapter 8 in the book.
