HERITAGE CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

We believe children are a gift from God and are of great value to our church family. Jesus demonstrated the value of children when He rebuked His disciples who were attempting to keep them from being brought to Him (Mark 10:13-16). We believe children can serve the church in real and practical ways even at their young age.

In teaching and training them in Scripture, it is our hope and prayer that they will grow up to be men and women of God who will be used of God for His purpose and glory. Our children’s programs are established to help parents in their responsibility to “train a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6). We also have a heart for children from un-churched families, and strive to be a source for their Bible training and encouragement.

In addition to Bible memory and teaching, we incorporate music and games into our children’s programs.

  • Sunday school 9:40 – 10:30 a.m. Classes for age 4 through 5th grade. Nursery provided for younger children; explore the YOUTH tab to learn about youth Sunday school.

“And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me” – Matthew 18:5

HERITAGE MEN’S MINISTRY

Men’s expository Bible study fellowship with breakfast every Thursday at the church at 6:30 a.m. This fellowship group, lead by Heritage elder Kyle Dufford, engages men in deep study and encourages challenging application in daily living. Men of all ages are welcome to attend this friendly meeting of men who seek God’s will and His instruction for their lives.

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. – Colossians 3:1

HERITAGE WOMEN’S MINISTRY

“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God” – Colossians 3:16

The purpose of our women’s ministry is to actively disciple women by teaching biblical principles, and providing encouragement to seek, understand, and obey the will of God as it is revealed in Scripture. It is our desire to see all of the women of Heritage Church grow in spiritual maturity, so that we may be equipped to serve our Lord in our families, in our church, and in the world around us.

Our current study is entitled “Legacy of Biblical Womanhood” and will begin on October 13th. This insightful study will help women discover from God’s Word our unique design, will instruct us on how to fulfill our calling and to pass the legacy on to the next generation. We will discover that our creation design gives us identity and purpose to every area of our lives and what a joy and privilege it is to be a Christian woman.  These studies can be challenging for all women. The book talks about 2 paradigms:  God’s way/mans way. Therein lies the challenge; we want to do it our way. OR we really want to do it God’s way, but “flesh” is weak (or very strong).  Join us as we study “The Legacy of Biblical Womanhood.”

Following a break in December, the Bible Study will resume on January 5, 2010.  Two groups, lead by Ellen Woods, Tuesday morning, 9:30 – 11:00 a. m., and Tuesday evening 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

10/13/09 – Our first study for this fall was well attended and the women were eager to get into the meat of the study. We had a short overview of what we will be covering and two of the women gave a “box talk”. What is a “box talk”? It’s a “show and tell” for adults. Objects are placed into a container (box, bag, basket) that are representative of your life. You show the objects one at a time and tell why you included them. It’s short and concise, but a great way to get a glimpse into who you are. Our purpose in including this in our meetings is to better nurture relationships among the women. Everyone so enjoyed this! Next week we will begin to dig in and homework will be assigned. Such a great legacy has been given to Christian women and we look forward to this opportunity to study the precious Word of God.

10/20/09 – Ellen provided an overview of covenants in God’s Word.  The handout for lesson 1 was discussed in the small groups.  Homework for next week is to read chapter 1 in the book and answer the questions at the end of the chapter.  Additional copies of the handout are available on the resource table in the fellowship room.

10/27/09 – Chapter 1 was discussed along with the discussion questions at the end of the chapter.  All of us were encouraged that as we look back at the women who have encouraged us in our Chrisitan walk, that we also have a legacy to leave to future generations of women.  Please read Chapter 2 for next week.

November 17 – Begin break for Thanksgiving & Christmas

1/05/10 - Review of Chapters 1 – 3 to remind everyone of what had been covered so far.  Read Chapter 4 for next week and answer the questions at the end of the chapter.

1/12/10 – Began discussion on Chapter 4.  Homework for the coming week is to read the book of Ruth.

1/19/10 – Read Chapter 5 and answer the questions at the end of the chapter.  The handouts for Lesson 7 were distributed – extra copies are available on the resource table.

1/26/10 -  Read Chapter 6 in the book and Ruth 1 – 3.  Each chapter of our book has a theme. Last week was “gratitude”.  This up-coming week it is “unity.”

2/2/10 - Read Chapter 7 in the book.

2/9/10 – Read Chapter 8 in the book.

HERITAGE YOUTH MINISTRY

The objective of our youth ministry is to communicate to students the love of Christ and the truth of His word. We place emphasis on the fact that the Bible is sufficient for evangelizing and equipping for a life of joyous Christian service.

The following is an overview of our youth ministry at Heritage Church.

Sunday Mornings: Bible study for middle and high school students meets from 9:15 – 10:00. Lead by Jeff and Dawn Rowe.

Wednesday Nights: Join us for youth group each Wednesday night from 7:00 – 8:00 at the HC administration building (583 29 Road) for Bible study, food and fun. Lead by Matt and Megan Cook and Brian and Becca Kuster.

Activities and Retreats: Throughout the year we enjoy a variety of fun activities including two major retreats – one in the winter, and one in the summer. The aim of all the time we spend together is to build sound Christian relationships with other students, and to grow together with them in God’s grace.

Service Outings: We encourage our students to get involved in ministry, and offer various opportunities and service oriented outings throughout the year.

“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father” – Colossians 3:17
